Linoleum Prints
Pieces: 45, in a book cover.
Published by Gustavo Gili publishing house, Barcelona, Spain.
Linoleum prints reproduced from the originals in the Galerie Louise Leiris in Paris. Introduction by Wilhelm Boeck.
Between 1958 and 1961, Picasso made several linoleum prints that were first published by Galerie Louise Leiris, in editions of 50 signed copies. Picasso invented the "reduction" method, in which he progressively cut the same linoleum plate to apply each color, making it impossible to make additional prints from the original plates. In 1962, the master Picasso and Galerie Louise Leiris made new linoleum plates at 42% the size of the originals and these are the ones that make up the book.
