This lithograph belongs to the "Portraits Imaginaires" folder, which originally contained 29 lithographs.
It was made from the painting of the same name in late 1959. Between 1969 and 1972, Picasso and Salinas produced new versions of the "Portraits Imaginaires" series. The collaboration between Picasso and Marcel Salinas, who also worked with artists such as Max Ernst and René Magritte, was one of the most successful partnerships in Picasso"s life. In late 2006, the complete collection of "Portraits Imaginaires" was exhibited at the Arkansas Arts Center at the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art.
