Property from a private collection in North America, acquired in the 1940s, and then by descent within the family.
The brush pot is decorated to each of the four sides with a poetic inscription followed by red seal marks within a gilt-bordered cartouche, all surrounded by blue-enamelled chrysanthemum scrolls. The interior and base are enamelled turquoise. The vessel is supported on four short shaped feet highlighted in gilt.
